Water Harvesting Certification: Testimonials

Testimonials from Graduates

" Since taking your class, I find myself looking at our urban landscape in an entirely differently light- one of multiple opportunities for water conservation. Your approach of promoting small-scale water harvesting projects offers a common sense alternative for resource intensive flood-control projects.  I highly recommend your program for individuals whose careers focus on landscape design, water supply, and/or water quality assurance. "     - Hans, Tucson Hydrologist

" Working and learning along side field experts, community advocates, and course participants helped to create a sense of competence in my ability to create, teach, and implement water harvesting projects.  I recommend this course to all those that wish to learn and create ways to conserve water, plant seeds of knowledge, and inspire others to do the same."   - Luis, Teacher/Sustainability Coordinator

"[The course] was a wonderful experience for me and I learned a lot and connected with some great people.  The hands-on work was so helpful to me; we put in two kinds of cisterns (culvert and plastic), a greywater laundry system, and dug basins and berms (earthworks to harvest water). We also had pertinent short classes on water harvesting concepts, design, calculations, and more.  I feel so much more confident and ready for the next step"  -Barbara, Water Harvesting Business Owner

"Watershed Management Group’s water harvesting certification program has changed the way I look at the world. In the spirit of wildlife "trackers" who look for evidence of animals in the soil and vegetation, I find I have become a water "tracker." I regularly ponder how and where water will flow under the force of gravity, and how it could best be harvested. In many places, it is possible to see the water’s path in the shape of slightly patterned gravel or soil, eroded washes, broken pavement, or even better, in rainwater or stormwater harvesting basins thriving with native plants and native critters. For water trackers, the world is turned upside down—instead of thinking primarily about how to pump and deliver water across the barriers of depth and distance, we focus our energy on how to retain and use that which falls freely to us. I would heartily recommend this course to anyone with an interest in our community's relationship with water."   - Emily, Non-profit Project Manager
